The goal of the conference is to open doors of communication that will help foster healing for victims directly and indirectly affected by racism. It has been well documented that the physical, emotional, mental, and intergenerational effects of trauma have lasting effects on individuals and communities.
Recent events publicized in the news reflect an increase in the number of hate crimes based on race, religion, and ancestry. This increase causes even more hurt and emotional distress for survivors and communities overall. We strongly believe that

Mission
To provide human and material resources aimed at helping individuals and communities start to unpack a legacy of hurt, shame, and disappointment that can be traced back to the Age of Exploration, the formation of our nation, the Civil War, two World Wars, and the Modern Civil Rights Movement. Healing is a process, and until we can address intergenerational trauma and the need for healing, we cannot move forward.
The city of Birmingham, Alabama represents every
“Gilead” in the United States dealing with issues of race, social justice and equity, racial trauma, and other forms of PTSD associated with the issues and the need for individual and community healing.
What better place in 2026, to forge ahead in this nation-changing work, started 250 years ago, than Birmingham, Alabama.
